Algoma University Thunderbirds Shoot for the Cure for Canadian Cancer Society

USports announced in January that the 15th annual edition of the Shoot for the Cure will be held both virtually and in-person for the 2021-22 season.

Algoma University’s Thunderbirds Athletics Department planned a fundraising campaign where coaches and administration volunteered to face a variety of challenges throughout the months of January and February as goals were met. 

These challenges continue to be posted on the Thunderbirds social pages, and two of them will be taking place LIVE Friday, Feb. 11, 2022, at the official Shoot for the Cure 2022 Men’s and Women’s Basketball games. See Coach Ryan Vetrie and Director of Student Life and Ancillary Services Dave Trudelle get a pie in the face and watch AU's Communications Officer Megan Parlowe and community member Amber Shewfelt get their long locks cut for the cause.

Where: George Leach Centre
             Spectators allowed, must follow all COVID-19 guidelines
             Proof of Vaccination Required (QR codes mandatory for entry)

When:  Friday, Feb. 11, 2022
            Women’s Game: 6 p.m.
            Hair Cut: Women’s Half Time
            Men’s Game: 8 p.m.
            Pie in the Face: Men’s Half Time

Who: Algoma University Thunderbirds Men’s and Women’s Basketball Teams

Price: Adults 18+ $5, free for Algoma U students, staff, and GLC members 

Donations are being accepted through the Algoma Thunderbirds team page. All the proceeds from the game will be donated to the fundraiser.
