Alzheimer Society services continue during office closure

Recreation therapists are still in contact over the phone and computer, and activation kits have been provided to clients

NEWS RELEASE
ALZHEIMER SOCIETY OF SAULT STE MARIE & ALGOMA DISTRICT
*************************
On one of the hottest days of the year so far, local Alzheimer Society Recreation Therapists Kirby and Kate set out to deliver some smiles, ice cream sandwiches and popsicles to their clients while physically distancing.

Although the local office is still closed to the public, services have continued. Recreation therapists have been reaching out over the phone and on the computer providing support and a familiar voice. Activation kits have been provided to clients so that they can continue to activate at home.

Recreation therapy improves the quality of life for people living with a dementia by providing activities that help to improve the ability to perform daily tasks,  provides social stimulation, and assists with feelings of isolation.

If you would like to support the Alzheimer Society recreation therapy program, or other services provided locally, please call 705-942-2195 or visit alzheimer.ca/algoma to donate.
