NEWS RELEASE
ARCH HOSPICE

Ready to smile? The Tim Hortons annual Smile Cookie campaign has returned to bring smiles to communities across Canada.
From Sept. 11-17, you can purchase a freshly baked chocolate chunk Smile Cookie for $1 at participating restaurants across the country, with 100 per cent of the proceeds being donated by Tim Hortons restaurant owners to local causes.
This year, ARCH Hospice and the Algoma Autism Foundation have both been selected to share proceeds from the campaign. This means $0.50 from each Smile Cookie will be donated to each organization. The 2016 campaign raised $32,000 for ARCH, helping the hospice reach its annual fundraising goal of $750,000.
Starting in 1996, the Smile Cookie campaign helped raise funds for the Hamilton Children’s Hospital in Ontario. Today the event has developed into a major fundraiser at Tim Hortons restaurants.
Through the campaign, more than 460 local charities, hospitals and community programs are supported. Last year, Smile Cookies raised over $7 million across Canada.
To celebrate the launch, ARCH Hospice volunteers will be at local Tim Hortons on the morning of Sept. 11. Dressed as giant cookies, they will be hard to miss.
ARCH and The Algoma Autism Foundation will be challenging the community to purchase cookies as random acts of kindness. When you buy a cookie for a neighbour, boss, or even a stranger, capture the moment on camera and upload your photo to Facebook using the hashtag #SooSmiles. You’ll be automatically entered to win a $100 Tim Hortons gift certificate!
