NEWS RELEASE

ONTARIO FINNISH RESTHOME ASSOCIATION

*********************
The Ontario Finnish Resthome Association and Foundation were once again overwhelmed and touched with the amount of support from the community for both the Harvest Fest Draw and Event.

This year OFRA and the Foundation opted for bigger draw prizes and it showed in the results. We had over 170 businesses, staff members and volunteers working endlessly, volunteering their time to help us sell our Harvest Fest Draw tickets.

Ticket sales rose above 4,300 and brought in a net total of over $54,600! An additional $2,000 was raised from our 50/50 and Penny Raffle. All of the money raised through our lottery efforts will be used to purchase recreational therapeutic and assistive devices for the residents of OFRA.

The Harvest Fest Draw winners are:

1st Prize: 12 ft white cedar barrel sauna with change room; wood stove made by Leisure Living; $1607.26 gift certificate for beer (equivalent to six kegs worth of beer) from Northern Superior Brewing.

Winner: Nick Perri – Ticket #0201

2nd Prize: 2017 Arctic Cat VLX from Rivercity Motorsports; RSK-1 trailer from Woody’s Wheels or $7,000

Winner: Tim Caple – Ticket #1553

3rd Prize: Custom Miralis kitchen cabinets; Design Services or $6,000

Winner: Michaeline Wyatt – Ticket #0150

4th Prize: 2017 18 ft ES7-K Car Hauler from Woody’s Wheels or $3,000

Winner: Mike Stortini – Ticket #2537

The Harvest Fest Event was just as successful! The money raised through this years’ event will go towards our future capital campaign to meet the growing needs of our residents and the organization. We would like to thank our generous sponsors. Our Gold Sponsors consisted of Leisure Living, Compass Imaging and Northern Superior Brewing. Our Silver Sponsors were SalDan General Contractors Ltd. and RBC Royal Bank.

New to the line-up this year included some exciting entertainment with the addition of the live auction. The combination of the very skilled Vernon Bailey and our very own “Vanha Vhite”, caused our guests to leave the night with laughter and nothing but excitement for next year’s event!!

The event itself brought in over $28,500, which included sponsorship, dinner tickets, live and silent auctions, the marketplace and in-kind donations. The donation of all our prizes, goods and services as well as the marketplace items were phenomenal. The final overall net total of all cash and in-kind donations and the draws were valued well over $85,000 almost $10,000 more than last year.

The Ontario Finnish Resthome Association and Foundation would like to thank the generous residents of Sault Ste. Marie and area for your ongoing support. Every day you donate prizes, you purchase tickets and you continue to make numerous donations that help to maintain the highest level of care for our residents.

Again, thank you from the homes with a heart!
