Celebrate the holiday season with friends and family while enjoying the 2003 classic Elf on the Grand Theatre’s big screen in support of Christmas Cheer. A Very Merry Movie Night takes place on Thursday, Dec. 8. Tickets are $15 and include one bag of festive Buddy-Style popcorn.
The family-friendly event kicks off at 6 p.m. with treats, holiday drinks and cocktails available for purchase in the lobby. Moviegoers can grab movie snacks and load up their free bag of popcorn with Buddy-Style toppings while enjoying a carol sing-along beginning at 6:30 p.m., followed by Elf at 7 p.m. on the big screen.
Tickets can be purchased online through Eventbrite or with cash at one of these local businesses:

- Outspoken Brewing
- Scott Coffee Co.
In addition to raising money through ticket sales, there will be a Christmas Cheer Drop Box in the lobby. Christmas Cheer provides disadvantaged families in our area with toys for children, groceries for the holidays, toiletries, and warm clothing. “We believe that we will be assisting 200-250 more families this Christmas,” shared Diane Marshall, Christmas Cheer convenor. “Many people within our community are experiencing greater challenges in meeting the needs of their families.”
Items that are welcome for donation in the Christmas Cheer Drop Box include:
- New toys
- New or lightly used dolls, games, and puzzles
- Hockey sticks
- Jewellery
- Mittens, toques, and scarves
- Toiletry items
- Canned goods
