Lemieux Composting is having a free sunflower growing competition.

In honour of the National Garden Bureau declaring 2021 the year of the sunflower. With COVID-19 and the lockdowns we want to give kids something fun and safe to do in their own backyards. We would like to encourage kids to get outside and see how rewarding gardening can be.

On June 26 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. we will be handing out free sunflower growing kits. The pickup is going to be safe; everyone will be able to remain in their vehicles while following the signage. All kids 16 and under can participate. The age categories will be 0-5, 6-11, and 12-16. Each category will have a winner for the tallest sunflower and receive $100!! There will also be additional prizes announced throughout the competition on our Facebook page.
