Director of community relations at Rolling Pictures North, Robert Peace, has been selected to be the judge at the Sault Ste. Marie Film Festival this year, held Nov. 27-29, 2020 at the Northern Superior Brewing Co.

The festival was created by Sault locals Trish Rainone and Rebeka Heron to support the local film industry in the Sault and in northern Ontario. Not only will Robert be reviewing these incredible works but he will also be facilitating an exclusive ticketed event at Rolling Pictures Northern Production Hub for directors, producers and cast members and has offered to film cast and crew interviews to help promote their films.

"I'm extremely excited to have been asked to participate as there are some great films and filmmakers here in the North," says Rolling Pictures community relations director Robert Peace.

"Finally, here is their spotlight. It has been a labour of love to watch more than 36 productions over the last few weeks. Luckily we have a wonderful theatre and popcorn here in our office,” says Peace.

Peace, who has over 25 years experience in the world of marketing and creative content development, also plans to attend all live screenings.

“I will be bringing my notes with me to refresh my memory and also re review all entries with an audience present,” says Peace.

The Road to Tophet, a crime thriller shot in Chapleau and Sudbury, opens the festival on Nov. 27 at 7 p.m. Director Steve Schmidt and actor Matt Connors plan to attend.

Two blocks of shorts follow Nov. 28 at 1 and 3 p.m. Six more shorts follow on Nov. 29 at 1 p.m. Heroes of a Different Kind, directed by Daniel Lance and Daniel Lance, Sr., closes the festival at 7 p.m.

The festival will incorporate content exclusively from creators based in northern Ontario, including student films and professional ones.
