Library marks Indigenous Peoples Day with 'Voices of Bawating'

The Sault Ste. Marie Public Library invites you to celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 by viewing the leaders’ message in our video series, Voices of Bawating.

This video features messages from our local Indigenous leaders including:

• Cathy Syrette, a member of the Batchewana First Nation and Director of the Sault Ste. Marie Indian Friendship Centre,
• Mitch Case from the Metis Nation of Ontario,
• Elizabeth Webkamigad, Member of the Sault Ste. Marie Public Library Board and Health and Human Services Batchewana First Nation and,
• Amelia Solomon, College Student and member of the Garden River First Nation.

Each leader’s message is unique and informative. Listen as this panel of individuals collectively offers insight into the importance of this unique holiday and the history of Indigenous peoples.
