Seven figure skaters from the Lake Superior Figure Skating Club, and 1 associate figure skater from the Wawa Figure Skating Club competed at the Skate Ontario Provincial Championships this weekend.

“I’m very proud of all our skaters’ accomplishments this weekend. Everyone skated their best and were excellent ambassadors for the Club and City. It was a great learning experience for some of our skaters who competed at Provincials for the first time. We also had skaters qualify for two events, which is a huge accomplishment. One of the highlights was Yvonne Barnes, who earned a gold medal in the Gold Ladies Artistic event. It was a very exciting and successful competition for all.”

The skaters’ results were as follows:

  • Elena Nelson first time competing at Provincials, personal best, Star 5 Artistic, 8th
  • Emily Arbour first time competing at Provincials and found it a wonderful learning experience, Star 5 Artistic
  • Addyson Atkinson first time competing at Provincials, Star 5 U13 12th
  • Leah Johnstone first time competing at Provincials, Star 7 Artistic 15th
