Machine Shop hosting job fair for new restaurant

In anticipation of the grand opening of the new restaurant and venue space at The Machine Shop, we will be hosting a job fair, in conjunction with the Sault Community Career Centre, on Thursday, May 26, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The job fair will be held at The Machine Shop, located at 83 Huron Street.

The Machine Shop’s new restaurant, which is slated to open its doors mid-July 2016, is looking to fill approximately 60 positions, including hosts, servers, bartenders, bussers, dishwashers, line cooks and prep cooks.

Staff is required not only for the restaurant but also for banquets, conferences, weddings, concerts, and corporate and community events.  

“Outgoing personalities and high energy will be the key requirement to the Front of House positions, mainly the servers, bartenders and banquet servers,” said Operations Manager, Joe Iachetta. “We want to be that place where you feel at home and are known by name.”

Glenn Dahl, who recently acted as the Hospitality and Chef Training Coordinator for the Sault College Hospitality Program, will bring his 40 years of kitchen experience to the position of Executive Chef.

“Love of the industry, a passion to please and a drive to excel are some of the paramount things we will be looking for in our kitchen team,” said Dahl.
 
“This will be the number one destination for all social and business gatherings, not only in Sault Ste Marie, but Northern Ontario,” said Steve Alexander, Events Marketing and Bar Manager.

The Machine Shop is equipped with a 2,000-square-foot kitchen and a 100-seat restaurant. With over 40,000 square feet of space, a heating and air conditioning system, a 24’ screen and projector and two ceiling fans, this state of the art facility can accommodate all your functions and gatherings.
