Ryan achieves prestigious national designation

Today, Ryan Bentley, a commercial insurance account executive at Algoma Financial Group, was presented with the prestigious Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP) designation at a convocation held by the Insurance Institute of Ontario (Cambrian Shield Chapter).

The FCIP is the highest level of designation in the property & casualty insurance industry, and an accomplishment that has only been achieved by a select few across Canada.

Born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, Bentley graduated from Sir James Dunn high school and the University of Waterloo.

He has been working in the insurance industry for eight years, starting with a position at a multinational insurance company; he has been a young leader on the Algoma Financial Group team for the last four years.

It has been during these four years that Bentley worked towards the requirements of FCIP, taking classes in strategy, leadership, risk management, finance management, emerging risk, as well as a successfully completing a major project.

“The minimum amount of time it could take to complete FCIP designation is 3.5 years, so completing it in only 4 years as Ryan did is an impressive feat,” said James Horbatuk, president, Algoma Financial Group. “We are proud to have Ryan as a young leader on our team.”

In addition to FCIP, Bentley has also earned the designations of Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker, Chartered Insurance Professional, and Canadian Risk Management.
