Sault volleyball team takes silver

Sault Ste. Marie's Steel City Ignite, ladies 16 and under team picked up a silver medal at the Ontario Volleyball Championships that wrapped up Tuesday in Waterloo, Ont.

A lack of competition during the pandemic led to the team being unranked heading into the provincial tournament, but the squad finished round robin action with a 4-2 record thanks to wins over the Newmarket Caspians, the London Fire, the London Tiger Sharks and the Richmond Hill Thundercats.

All four wins came in straight sets.

A total of 109 teams from across the province, separated into four divisions.
