Sault’s Elks Club provides funds to pair of local organizations

Members of the Elks Lodge #341, one of the Sault’s oldest volunteer establishments, presented two local organizations with donations during their weekly meeting on Tuesday.

Representatives from Tracey’s Dream and ARCH Hospice were in attendance for the Elks’ assembly this afternoon, which kicked off with the presentation of two $2,500 cheques, each of which will go towards the respective groups.

Lynne Palumbo from Tracey’s Dream is looking forward to providing those funds to help cancer patients pay for parking at the hospital, which has been growing in demand as of late.

“We’ve gone through 40 passes this month alone,” Palumbo says. “We rely on the generosity of our community, and I can’t say enough about how generous this community is. This donation is very much appreciated.”

Meanwhile, Tom Baeuerle from ARCH says the funds will make it possible to better fulfill wishes for end-of-life support.

“We couldn’t do what we do without the generosity of the community and organizations like yours,” he said to Elks president Gordie McCulloch. “It’s very much appreciated. This makes a huge difference for the residents and their families.”
