MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay — Canada suffered its third straight loss at the World Rugby U20 Trophy, beaten 45-28 by Chile on Wednesday.
Canada will close out play Sunday, needing a win to finish seventh at the eight-team tournament. The Canadian men previously lost to Namibia and Japan in the second-tier under-20 rugby championship.
Aidan McMullan scored two tries for Canada with singles from Niko Clironomos and George Barton. Will Kelly and Brennig Prevost each added two conversions.
The tournament winner is promoted to the elite 12-team World Rugby U20 Championship.
Canada qualified for the U20 Trophy by beating the U.S. 71-39 in a two-game qualifying series in Edmonton.
