The NFL regular season kicks off next week with the defending-champion Kansas City Chiefs the favourite among Proline bettors to win a third consecutive Super Bowl title.

Kansas City will begin its championship quest on Sept. 5 when it opens the regular season against the visiting Baltimore Ravens.

According to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp., the Chiefs are the top pick to win this year's Super Bowl. The San Francisco 49ers, who lost to Kansas City in last year's title game, are ranked No. 2 ahead of the Detroit Lions, Baltimore and Buffalo Bills.

Ironically, though, Baltimore is the top pick to win the AFC championship ahead of Kansas City. The New York Jets are next, ahead of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Buffalo.

And San Francisco is the top pick to capture the NFC title ahead of Detroit. The Philadelphia Eagles, Green Bay Packers and upstart Chicago Bears round out the top five.

The American university football season has begun and the Ohio State Buckeyes are the favourites to win the NCAA title. The Georgia Bulldogs are second, ahead of the Oregon Ducks, Alabama Crimson Tide and Texas Longhorns.

A Proline digital bettor turned two $1 bets into a $9,482 payout last Saturday on successful Major League Baseball parlays. A retail customer won $4,218 from a $10 bet on another baseball parlay.
