Bob passed away peacefully at the Van Daele on Thursday, February 17th, 2022 at the age of 75. Devoted husband to Shirley (nee Veaudry) of 50 years. Loving father to James "Jamie" (Adriana Pagnotta) and Mike (Nicole Welton). Very proud papa to Lauren, Zachary, Sarah and Sofia, who brought him joy and laughter. Cherished brother to Susan Nicholson (Darwin). Predeceased by his parents William and Mildred as well as his brother Bill (late Rena).
During his 32-year career at Algoma District School Board (ADSB), Bob was not only a dedicated teacher, but he also enjoyed coaching many soft ball and soccer teams. Bob enjoyed the challenges of discovering the best way to help students learn and especially enjoyed seeing his students' pride when they were able to attain a goal.
Bob was a quiet gentle person who lived a life of faith and believed in treating every person with respect, care and compassion.
Our family will forever be grateful for the care and compassion that Bob received from the entire staff during his stay at Extendicare Van Daele. We also want to thank the staff at the VON Adult Day Away program who provided a safe, nurturing program for Bob and encouraging guidance to our family.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service for Bob will be held at O'Sullivan Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 23rd, 2022, at 11am with Donna Langevin officiating. A reception will follow upstairs. Due to the covid-19 restrictions, proof of double vaccination will be required to attend both the service and reception, face coverings must be worn and social distancing will be adhered to. Those who cannot attend in person are invited to participated in a livestream of the service by following the zoom link below on Wednesday, February 23rd, 2022 at 11am. In Bob's memory, donations made to the Sault Ste Marie Alzheimer’s Society or the VON Day Away Program (made payable by cheque or online) would be greatly appreciated by the family.
