April 23, 1936 - March 8, 2020

After leaving Upper Canada College, David pursued a career in forestry, one that varied from tree care to teaching, from logging to research, and branched out into pool installation and mink ranching. While attending Ranger School, Dave met Josephine Kylie below a fire tower in Central Ontario. That chance encounter led to a romance that saw the celebration of their sixtieth anniversary in June of last year. Dave could, and did, talk to anyone, learning more about you upon first meeting than you may have shared with your best friend. Always eager to be involved, Dave was, at various times, the manager of the Sault College hockey team, a warden at St. Luke's Cathedral, a member of: The Retriever Club, Toastmasters, The Sault College Men's Choir, The Rod and Gun Club, The Woodlot Association, and Lion's Club (the latter for over forty years). His big smile and hearty laugh will be sorely missed by wife Jo, sons Jim (Licia), John (Lianda), Brian (Danielle), grandchildren Ben, Gareth, Olivia, Rhys, Romey, Sadie and Ivor, many friends, and the large extended family an only child was thrilled to join. Friends may visit at St. Luke's Cathedral on Saturday, March 14, 2020 from 1:00 pm to 2:45 pm. Service at the church at 3:00 pm; Rev. Christian Pichette officiating. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Luke's Cathedral ACW, or the Algoma Highlands Conservancy would be appreciated by the family. Remember Dave by going for a walk outside, or breaking into a 'spontaneous run'.
