BERNARDI, Ottilie Audrey

Posted

Bernardi
How do you find the words to sum up a life and say goodbye? To one such as Ottilie Audrey Bernardi? She is now with her partner in crime and soul-mate, Irving Merz. Ottie Bernardi passed quietly in her sleep on Saturday, June 16, 2018 and not in a fiery takedown that would put Hollywood special effects to shame if you were foolish enough to get on her wrong side. German. Red head. Temper. Enough said. She had spunk and a wicked sense of humour that served her well in life. Beloved mother of Dolores Wagner and the late Annette Wagner. Audrey was also the sweetest woman you would ever meet. That Haussel charm though! She would feed you well and never let your cup be empty. Vibrant, charming and always gracious Audrey would regale you with stories of her adventures like that one time she saw Cassius Clay win the Olympic gold medal in boxing or snorkelling in brilliant blue waters with fishes in every colour, or running into Prime Minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau in a hotel lobby or that one time in camp with lots of alcohol and good friends....She was a world traveler: Europe, parts of Africa, North America, South America, Australia, Tahiti, Costa Rica, Egypt, Turkey, China, Cuba, the North and South Pole. Bora Bora and Dubai were next on her list and she’s there now on another one of her adventures. In Audrey’s words “I am content. I’ve had a good life. I’ve seen the world and the world is a beautiful place.” Words to live by. So raise a glass, have a laugh and see the world for the beauty it holds. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Memorial donations to ARCH in honour of the great care she received there. Thank you to all the caring staff at the SAH and ARCH for their compassionate care. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
