BERNARDO Adamo Batista
Passed away peacefully with family by his side on Monday, February 18, 2019 in his 85th year. Born on November 14, 1934 in Italy, Region of Calabria, Province of Cosenza, Municipality of Cleto, Cannavali. Son of the late Vincenzo Bernardo-Ciddio and Antonia Caputo. Beloved husband of his late wife and companion of 50 years, Maria Bernardo (Nicoletta). Much loved and cherished father of Tonino (Melodie), Lina (Paul) and Gisella (Boyd). Cherished and beloved Nonno of Adamo, Sophie, Brenden and Adam. He was a wonderful Nonno to all four. Beloved brother of the late Salvatore (late Rosaria), late Giovanni (late Adelina), late Rosario (late Felicia), late Anna (late Luigi), late Agostino (Yolanda) and Genia (late Giovanni). Brother-in-law of Antonio Nicoletta (Nella), Cesira Castagnaro (late Mario) of France, Annina Caputo (late Luigi) of Cleto, Italy, late Domineco Nicoletta (late Maria) and the late Giovanni Nicoletta of New York. Adamo came to this country to give his family a better life, while leaving all he knew behind. You will always be remembered as the perfect father with a wonderful sense of humour. You gave us all the unconditional love a father can possibly give, always great advice and many Italian proverbs to live by. Your patience, honesty, hardworking nature and love of God are seeds you have deeply sown in your children. We can only hope to be a fraction of the person you effortlessly were…you will be a hard act to follow, Pappa. We shall see you again. A special thanks to all who spent so much time compassionately treating our father. Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road, 705-945-7758) on Friday, February 22, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Funeral Mass to follow at St. Veronica’s Church at 1:00 p.m. with Father Ron Ambeault officiating. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorial donations to the Sick Kids Foundation, Toronto, Ontario would be appreciated by the family.
