BERTRAND, Marlene (nee Cull)

1937 - 2004 - It is with profound sadness that her family announces her passing at the West Nipissing General Hospital, on Wednesday, December 15, 2004, at the age of 67 years. Marlene was the cherished wife and best friend of Roger Bertrand of Sturgeon Falls, and dearly beloved mother of Brian (Judy) of North Bay, Barry (Lydia) and Lynda of Sturgeon Falls, and Joseph (Lori) of Sault Ste. Marie. Left to treasure her memory forever are her five precious grandchildren, Chiara, Ashley, Brenden, Scott and Bradley. She will be fondly remembered by her three brothers: Lacey (Rollande), Leo (Lillian) and Don (Lynn). Predeceased by her parents, Michael (Cull) and Mary-Ellen (nee Rathwell), and by two brothers, Andy (Helene) and Terry (Jeannine - second husband, Ted McCann). Marlene was a devoted member of various groups and organizations such as Premier's Round Table on Voluntary Action, 1st Woman Chair of Canadore College Board of Governors, 1st Woman Chair of the West Nipissing Police Service, member of the Trillium Grant Review Team for Nipissing, Muskoka, Parry Sound, and Temiskaming, board member of Residence Mutuel Inc. (Non profit housing), Vice chair of the West Nipissing Sports Hall of Fame, founder and music director of the Sturgeon Falls Ecumenical Choir, and member of the Ladies Auxiliary Branch 225 Royal Canadian Legion. Family receiving friends at the Theoret Funeral Home, today, December 17, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Reverend Raymond Sullivan will celebrate the funeral service at the Our Lady of Sorrows Church, on Saturday, December 18, at 11:00 a.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the West Nipissing General Hospital would be appreciated to honour Marlene's memory. The family would like to express their most sincere gratitude and affection to the physicians, the nursing staff and their close friends for all the care, compassion and support that was shared at their time of need.
