On December 10, 2019 at the Sault Area Hospital, Carolyn peacefully passed away with family at her side. Loved by many including her husband Paul, father Jim (Carol) Howe, mother Joan (Glyn) Clarkson, sister Sharon (David) Hamlin, sister-in-law Judith (Andrew) Kyle and father-in-law Brian. Auntie Car or AC to Liam, Victoria, Catherine and Alexander. Carolyn had a very special place in her heart for Megan, Devan and Emma. Carolyn was 57. She started life in Greenock Scotland and moved to St. Catharines when she was just a ‘wee lass’. It was there on the Niagara River above the Falls that she learned to sail her albacore and also in St. Catharines at the Grantham Curling Club where curling became such an important part of her life. Summers camping at Killbear Provincial Park with her family held such a great memory for Carolyn that later in life she would take everyone she could to go camping. It was also in St. Catharines at Thursday night recreational rowing league that she would notice a tall red head sitting in the starboard side 5 seat and they would fall crazy in love with each other. She knew she was mad about him when she agreed to move to Dryden in NW Ontario and was happy to receive Sorel’s for a Xmas gift! Ten+ years with great friends and lots of adventures and it was time to follow her man again when they moved to ‘the Soo’. Book clubs, lunch dates, tea by the river in Belleview Park, Wednesday and Friday curling are just some of the things Carolyn so enjoyed in ‘the Soo’. Carolyn was strong, courageous, and was a fighter. Carolyn was a great listener and gave her heart to those who needed it. She lived by her phrase “Be Kind”. Thanks goes out to all her medical team that gave her the best care and let her have as much time with us as possible, albeit too short. Carolyn asked that friends and family get together for afternoon tea, to reflect and share stories together. The celebration will be held at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road, 705-945-7758) on Saturday, December 14, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Memorial donations to the Sault Ste. Marie Public Library would be greatly appreciated.
