It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our Wife, Mom and Grandma, Arla Joan Bolton (nee Trowbridge) on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Sault Area Hospital at the age of 75.
Arla was born on November 21, 1948 where she grew up in Spanish, ON surrounded by the love of her parents, John and Helen Trowbridge. She shared 57 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Merl Bolton, whom she cherished deeply throughout their life together. She will be fondly remembered by her son, Eric Bolton, and her daughter, Pam McDonald (Matt). Arla held a special place in her heart for her granddaughter, Kenna (Kile), whom she adored beyond measure.
Arla was the cherished sister of the late Ronald (Susan), Kenny (late Rose), Late Johnny (Marielle) and Alan (Jean). Predeceased by her mother and father-in-law Don and Henrietta Bolton. She was also a beloved sister-in-law of Donna, Joan (late Gord),Late Lyla, Blake (Karen), Sheila (Paul), Heather (late Jim), and late Glenda (Steve). She was a beloved Aunt, and dear friend to many.
Roberta Harrison (Grant), Duane Jones (Theresa), and the late Keith Jones (Arlene) were a very special part of Arla's life. She held a deep bond with them that brought her immense joy. Her neighbours and the neighbourhood dogs brought great joy to Arla. She cherished their companionship and the warmth of the community around her. Classmates of Eric, Pam and Kenna fondly remember Arla for her involvement and volunteer work at their schools (Manitou Park Public School and later F.H Clergue). Her dedication and generosity touched the lives of many children and families.
Arla's life was centred around her family, and she leaves behind a lasting legacy of love and devotion. In addition to her roles as a wife, mother, and grandmother, Arla was known for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering support for those she loved. Arla was the first one in line to help anyone; she was the true example of selflessness. Over the years, she welcomed many into her home, offering a safe place to stay to anyone she loved.
Arla was front row supporting and cheering on everyone she loved, and the loss of this kind of person will be difficult to recover from. Her love, encouragement, warmth and genuine heart touched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
