BOW, James
February 26, 1937 – January 20, 2024
With heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of James, with family by his side, at Golden Birches Terrace in Blind River at the age of 86. He is reunited with the love of his life, Grace (nee Walthers) (2009). Hard working father of David (Jenifer), Bonnie Vezina, the late Linda Warner (Kevin) and Jimmy Werner. Papa of Timothy Bow, Amelia Bow (Adam Hickey), Dylan Warner (Nicole), Kaylyn Zaman (Sarmeer), Shelley Lachapelle (Rob), the late Fernie Vezina and Shawn Vezina (Kathryn). Brother of Celina Machin (late Ken), George Bow, Rolly Bow (Christine), Marion Bobiwash (late Jake), Patsy Folz (late Donald), late Harvey Bow (Bertha), late Beatrice Recollet (late Leonard), and the late Margaret Pine (Ernie).
Jim grew up on a farm where he learned how to work hard. At the age of 17 he got a job at the McFadden Mill in Blind River where he learned how to operate heavy equipment. He was a selfless provider for his family. He was a patient, honest and gentle man. He enjoyed fishing and being with nature.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Algoma Manor and Golden Birches for their great care. A special thank you to the staff at Palliative Care NSHN-Blind River for the compassion shown to Jim and his family in his final weeks.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Jim’s life on Sunday, February 25, 2024, beginning at 10am, at the Blind River Legion, Branch 189, 27 Hawkins St. Service begins at 10am with a light luncheon to follow.
