BROOKS, John Hilmer 'Jack'

A most wonderful man: a man equally at home with his loving family, spinning fish stories, and building camps in the Northern forests.

Jack Brooks passed on April 16, 2021; the loving husband of Eva, his “Bride” of 64 years. Jack was a disciplined guy with many passions for all seasons.

Spring was his favourite season. He loved to buck and split a tandem load of wood—to Jack, happiness was a full woodshed. He longed to fish for specs in his boat on Moose and Morrison.
Summer was family gatherings at Sand Bay, Lake Superior, the treasured place that he built with pleasure.
Bird season was enjoyed at Porcupine Lodge with the guys.
Winter was warmed with snowmobile adventures with the gang.

In all seasons Jack truly had a zest and a love for life in learning, teaching, helping and loving his family and friends; particularly his grandchildren who melted his heart, to them he would say, “Make hay while the sun shines” and “Isn’t that just wonderful”.

Jack was the hero for his two adored daughters, Elizabeth Brooks and Catherine Brooks (Mike Hayes); and his four remarkable grandchildren: Emily Miket (Kyle), Austin Maccarone, Spenser Henstock and Eliot Henstock.

As Jack transitioned to the great outdoors in the sky to his new season, he left his family a gift of a Legacy of Love.

A beloved son of the late Albert and late Elsie Brooks (Allard); brother of the late Albert Brooks (late Lorna), survived by brother Lloyd Brooks (late Connie).

The son-in-law to late Eli and late Lilian Zorzi (Antonello); brother-in-law to Bob Zorzi (Doreen), Doreen Johnson (late Kenny), late Willian Zorzi, late John Zorzi (Lucille), Jerry Zorzi (late Judy), Peter Zorzi (Terry), late Barbara Poole (Fabian).

Jack will be sadly missed by his many loving nieces and nephews, friends and neighbours.

A special thank you to those who loved and cared for Jack during his health challenges that he most valiantly faced; niece Margaret Barbeau, ADCP angels, Dr. I. Voutsadakis, Dr. M. Culina, Cindy (Bayshore), Zoey (Home and Stead), Dr. S. Buehner, every compassionate and loving angel at ARCH especially Liz Ubaldi, Karen, Laura Fryia, Nathan, Lisa, Cheryl, Nory and Natasha.

Memorial donations (payable by cheque or online) to ARCH or SAH Foundation would be appreciated.
A family service was recently held at Willowgrove United Church, officiated by Reverend Hati; followed by interment in Greenwood Cemetery.  Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E 705-759-2522). Please visit the Arthur Funeral Home website obituaries to leave a message of condolence for the family.

Jack lived a blessed life. A celebration of his life will take place in a future season.
