After a lengthy illness, surrounded by his family at Thamesview Lodge, Chatham, on May 31, 2005, Francesco Buffone, age 88, of Chatham, beloved husband of the late Linda (Lorello) (1997). Born in Cleto, Italy on November 30, 1916, son of the late Theresa (Carlucci) and Eugenio Buffone of Italy, he came to Canada in 1951 and made his home in Sault Ste. Marie, coming to Chatham in 1995, he lived at Residence-on-the-Thames and Thamesview Lodge's Maple Court. Loving and devoted Papa of Maria Buffone and her husband Arturo of Ottawa, Gino Buffone and his wife Judy and Rose Burke and her husband Chris all of Chatham. Cherished Nonno of Lisa Kelleher and husband James, Carlo and Jason Buffone, Angela Van Kesteren and husband Michael, Andrew Buffone and Tianna Burke. Great Nonno of Liam and Ryan Kelleher and Lauren and Abigail Van Kesteren, brother of Maria Buffone in Italy and brother-in-law of Mafalda Buffone of Sault Ste. Marie and Elvira Longo of Italy as well as many dear nieces and nephews and friends. He is predeceased by a brother Antonio and sister-in-law Irma Nicastro. Friends and relatives called at the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. S., Chatham from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and Parish Prayers were offered at 7:00 p.m. Visiting will also take place on Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in Sault Ste. Marie at the Northwood Funeral Home, (942 Great Northern Rd., 945-7758). Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday, June 4, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Veronica's Church, Sault Ste. Marie with Rev. Paul Conway officiating. Entombment will be in Holy Sepulchre Mausoleum in Sault Ste. Marie. Donations to the Alzheimer's Society or the Diabetes Association would be appreciated.
