Annyne Mary Burke (nee Briel)
Annyne Burke was born on February 3, 1951 and passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Thursday, June 29, 2023 in Calgary, AB at the age of 72. Annyne was born and raised in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario and attended St. Joseph Elementary school and Mt. St. Joseph College. In 1978 she moved with her family to Calgary, AB. While raising her own children at home, she also provided day-home care for many other children. In 1988, along with her husband, she became co-owner of Heritage Galleries. Being immersed in the art world and meeting so many artists and clients, many of whom became good friends, was truly her favourite calling. After selling the gallery in 2001, Annyne continued working in the art and framing industry for several years. In 2005, she again partnered with her husband to form J&M Builders in a design and financial role. Annyne finished her working life as a self-employed bookkeeper who was renowned for her accuracy and high standards. She enjoyed spending the winter months at her second home in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. She loved spending time with her family, was an avid gardener and Sudoku master. She is survived by her husband, Marv; daughter, Jennifer (Travis); son, Sean (Lindsay); grandchildren, Jacob and Mae; sister, Sharlene and nephew, Greg; sister-in-law, Rae (Bill); niece, Raquel (Ricky & Max); and nephew Brent (Marina & Alex). Annyne was predeceased by her parents, Alfred and Mildred; mother-in-law, Audrey (Bob); and nephew, Chistropher. At Annyne’s request, no service will be held. Like the warmth of the sun on a spring afternoon, gone too soon.
