CAVANAUGH, Sister Priscilla

It is with sorrow that The Sisters of St. Joseph of Sault Ste. Marie announce the death of Sister Priscilla Cavanaugh, on Sunday, August 7, 2005 in the infirmary of St. Joseph's Motherhouse, North Bay, Ontario, surrounded by her community and family. Born in Sudbury, Ontario, Sister Priscilla entered The Sisters of St. Joseph of Sault Ste. Marie in 1959. Sister worked in the business and admitting offices of health care institutions in Elliot Lake, Blind River, North Bay and Sudbury from 1960 to 1968. She also spent several years working in the office of Mount St. Joseph College in Sault Ste. Marie. Following this time Priscilla was in charge of housekeeping services at St. Joseph's Motherhouse and later housekeeping, dietary and maintenance services at Avila Centre in Thunder Bay. She returned once again to St. Joseph's Motherhouse in 1994 where she ministered to our Senior Sisters up until her recent illness. Sister Priscilla was predeceased by her parents, George Cavanaugh and Irene Pelletier, sister Darlene Frenette and brother-in-law Raoul Frenette. She is survived by her brother George Cavanaugh, sister-in-law Teresa Cavanaugh and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Priscilla will be remembered as a gentle woman of faithfulness and profound service. The body of Sister Priscilla will be received at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 9, 2005 in the Holy Family Chapel, St. Joseph's Motherhouse, North Bay. A prayer vigil will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening. Her Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Chapel, St. Joseph's Motherhouse, at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2005, Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, North Bay.
