CHAUVIN, Lorraine Anna, February 19, 1927 - September 9, 2023

Lorraine A. Chauvin born to Charles and Mabel Haig in Sandwich East Windsor Ontario.

Beloved wife of the late Arthur Gerald Ryder and the late Wilfred Chauvin. Special friend of David Blissett. Devoted and loving mother of Leslie Suriano and Linda Walls (David). Beloved grandmother to the late Tom Caswell, the late Kevin Caswell, Cindy Johnson, James Caswell, Rob Wilton, the late Stephen Walls, Shawn Walls (Laura) and the late Jennifer Nicholson. Great grandmother to 16. Sister to Claire Westfall, Bernice Langlois (Arnold) and Donna MacDougall. Predeceased by sisters Madeline Stellar, Doris Chadwick, Kathleen Goyeau, Sheila Brown and brother Ronald Haig.

Known as the gypsy lady, and always up for a new adventure mom's work history began at age 15 when she rotated props on military planes. She was the first female certified by the Ontario government as a driving school instructor, eventually opening Ryder driving school in Sault Ste. Marie with late spouse, Gerry Ryder. Next we travel to Women's College Hospital in Toronto where mom worked as assistant house-keeper and author of the policy and procedure manual for the house-keeping department. Next place of employment was the Water Tower Inn as executive house-keeper, then off to British Columbia where she was employed in Kananaskis then the Rimrock Hotel in Banff.

Mom loved to travel and enjoyed a one month hiking tour in Europe, visits to Great Britain, Cuba, Alaska, Italy and camping from Canadian coast to coast, most notably with twin sister Claire. Mom was prepared and courageous for this, her last adventure.

The family would like to extend a heart felt thank you to Dr. Apostle and the staff and volunteers at A.R.C.H. for their care and compassion.

As per Lorraine's wishes there will be no formal funeral services at this time, cremation will take place. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations (made payable by cheque or online) to A.R.C.H. would be greatly appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E., 705-759-2522).
