Shirley Ann Chisholm (nee Cameron) age 82, passed away peacefully at the Algoma Manor on February 27, 2023.

Shirley is predeceased by her husband Charles, her brother Alex (late Estelle), her sister Ruth (late Don) as well as her brother in laws Richard (late Beatrice, late Barb) and George.

Devoted mother of Chris (Nicole), late Cameron, Karen, Marie (Harold) and Chuck (Deris). Loving grandmother of Natalie (Mike), Chase (Meagan), Nathan (Kaylyn), Justin, Bailey, Bryce and Mason. Loving great grandmother of Jaxon. Survived by her brother-in-law Jack (Dorothy). She will be deeply missed by her many nieces and nephews.

Shirley was a dedicated hockey mom, attending her son’s and her grandson’s hockey games where she could be heard cheering them on from the stands. She also loved to watch her kids and grandkids play baseball. She especially looked forward to the August long weekend and family ball tournament.

Shirley loved to travel. She created lifelong memories with her travel partners, friends and family. Summers were spent at her trailer in Hilton Beach.

Shirley was a dedicated volunteer for the Cancer Society, Student Breakfast Program and the Algoma Manor Tuck Shop. She was also a long-term member of the Catholic Women’s League. You always knew spring was here when Shirley and her good friend Mary Jane Goodall, aka The Daffodil Ladies came around selling daffodils for the Cancer Society.

A special thank you to all the staff at the Algoma Manor for the compassionate care they provided mom throughout her stay.  Mom was good-natured and was always teasing and joking with the staff.

At Shirley’s request, no services will be held. Memorial donations can be made to the Cancer Society or the NSHN-Thessalon Site.
