Simon Christ

It is with a saddened heart that I announce the passing of my beloved father on Saturday, October 13, 2018 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario (formerly Windsor, Ontario). He would have celebrated his 87th birthday on October 15th.

He was the cherished husband of Maria (2014) for almost 60 years, dear father of Simon (2016) (Nancy), Ingrid (Brian Trudel) and dear Opa of Allison and Rachel (Peter). Treasured brother of Andreas, and brother-in-law to Heinz Hartmann (Sigrid) and dear cousin to Feri Schwalm (Godel). He will be deeply missed by his very dear friends Frank and Margaret Reidl, who were outstanding friends and such tremendous support to dad, as were Lynn Fields, Debbie Lundrigan and his wonderful neighbours Steve and Diana St. Louis. He will also be missed by his wonderful friend Myrta Rivers, as well Hans Kompass and the Trudel family (Rhona, Neil, Anne and Rebekah).

Dad will be reunited with Mom and Simon and he and mom can waltz again and he can watch his car races with Simon. He adored his son-in-law Brian with whom he had many good laughs and a shared love for photography. Dad was an employee of the Ford Motor Company for 42 years. He loved his squirrels, game shows, car racing, German soccer, music and especially his sweets and munchies. Our heartfelt thanks to all the medical staff in Windsor at Hotel Dieu, Malden Park, and in Sault Ste. Marie that helped him through his difficult times. A special thanks to Dr. Shafiee and the nurses in 3B and 3C as well as the wonderful staff at Pathway’s and Dr. Bill McDermott. At dad’s request cremation has taken place with a celebration of both his and mom’s lives to be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. – 750-759-2522). Brian and I love you dad with all of our hearts. Rest in peace dear Dad until we see each other again. No regrets for either of us. I will miss watching Family Feud with you…for hours on end.
