Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 4, 2022, at the age of 91 with his family by his side. Cherished husband of Phyllis Cote. Loving father of Valerie (Wayne), Janet (Mike), Larry (Cathy) and Shelley (Mike). Special grandpa of 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Lovingly remembered by his brother Ted and sister Marlene.
Reunited with his son the late Danny (Mary). Predeceased by his parents Israel and Rose Cote as well as his siblings Irene, Beatrice, Lou, Theresa and Bob.
Dad had one big passion in life and that was playing the fiddle. He was a professional fiddle player and loved to entertain.
He had a lot of friends in the music world and enjoyed every moment spent playing with them, but his most precious time playing was when Larry would back him up on guitar. Our mother and us kids were his biggest fans, listening in the kitchen or garage.
Dad was playing his fiddle right up until this winter, when he started getting too tired.
We would like to thank all the musicians, close friends and family for always joining dad when he said, “it’s time for a good old fashion jam session”, always leading to the best of times.
We know that dad was welcomed into heaven by many of his old musician friends and family. Most of all, his son Danny, with open arms and will take over as dads biggest fan.
Whenever we think of you dad, which will be always, we will play your music. Putting a smile on our faces and warmth in our hearts.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to all the doctors and RN’s, PSW’s and physio for their care and compassion. A special thank you to RN Rachel on 1B for the conversations you made time to have with us, you felt like family.
We would also like to thank all the beautiful neighbours that were there to help with whatever they could. Thank you to Gloria, Shannon, Sally, Jocelyn, Andy and Frank for always keeping a close eye on dad, and mom too!
As per Rene’s wishes, cremation has taken place and celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
