With deep sadness his family announces Doug’s death at Sault Area Hospital on Thursday, March 9, 2018, in his 72nd year.  Left to mourn him are his wife, Joanne (Bergeron) and his daughter, Kenna (fiancé Jamie).  Predeceased by his father, William, mother, May (Nee Ray) and stepfather, John Moore.  His is survived by his sister, Maureen Bridge (Joe), his brothers, Ken Crawford (Liz) and Rick Crawford (late Laura).  Son-in-law of the late Henri and Rose Bergeron; brother-in-law to Irene Hull (late), Laurent Bergeron (Jackie), Jeannette Schwam (Ed), Aime Bergeron (Donna), Richard Bergeron (late Kathy), Rose-Anne Trudel (Victor) and Noel Bergeron (late).  He is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces. Doug enjoyed travelling, reading, listening to books on CDs while he worked around the yard, watching the different birds that visited the feeders, seeing the wildlife that would pass through the yard or some who would spend time resting on the deck.  He loved to watch the beautiful sunsets in Haviland Bay as well as the weather fronts that moved across the bay from Batchawana.  He loved his home and could not imagine living anywhere else. Doug had taken many trips with his best friend, Andy, and the stories of these adventures were always interesting and perhaps a little embellished. The family would like to thank Drs. Mantle, McIsaac, Anderson, Nalla of Health Sciences North, as well as all the nurses who cared for Doug in the ICU while in Sudbury. Also, thank you to the doctors and nurses at Sault Area Hospital emergency, Drs. Bowen, Schamp and White and nurses from 3C who cared for him during his brief time there. Cremation has taken place and at Doug’s request, there will be no visitation or service.  Memorial donations to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation or Health Sciences North Sudbury would be appreciated by the family. (Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel 492 Wellington St. East 705-759-2522).
