Patrick Lawrence Daigle, affectionately known simply as Pat to all who knew and cherished him, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 20, 2024, at the Sault Area Hospital surrounded by family, at the age of 63.
Born March 27, 1961, Patrick was the youngest son of the late Sonny and Margaret Daigle. Survived by his sister Yvonne and brother Ray. He will be deeply missed by many nieces and nephews, especially Jodie Daigle.
Patrick is reunited with his common-law partner Kim Greenwood (2023) as well as siblings: Billy, Emma, Vince, Ivan, Bodie, Don, Therese, Carl, Carla, and Marie.
Patrick grew up surrounded by the natural beauty of Northern Ontario's landscapes in and around Gros Cap. The home that he grew up in stood as a monument to many cherished memories that sparked his love for the natural world. To Pat, being outdoors was his sanctuary, and he often sought refuge and joy in the simple act of being amidst the tranquility of nature. He loved to be outdoors with his family and friends, whether it was practicing the discipline of Martial Arts or the thrill of playing baseball.
Patrick's love for the outdoors, is likely what led to his early career as a logger, wielding an axe and chainsaw with rugged determination not long after completing grade 13. His work in the forests honed not only his physical strength but also his character, one that would define his approach to every challenge that life presented.
Patrick was an avid reader, his mind always eager to absorb the narratives of the fictional western world – to travel through the pages to lands and times beyond his own.
Pat never had any children of his own, but he was a good uncle, and it was a role that Pat took to heart. What his nieces and nephews found in him was a true friend. He was a man whose heart was as large as the universe itself. His infectious laughter was their music, and his stories were always entertaining and humorous.
Pat’s leaves behind a legacy of laughter, zest for life, and his unwavering courage and commitment. It was a life Pat lived passionately and purposefully. He was a beacon of light in the lives he touched.
