Mom passed away suddenly on Friday, March 1, 2019. She was born in Richards Landing on July 20, 1939 to William (Bud) and Olive. Waiting already was a sister (late Colleen Piccolo) and brother (late Gary Morton). She came into this world with a zest for living that carried right through her life. Climbing out the second floor bedroom at her grandmother's house onto the garage roof at the age of 6 ensured she was never to be babysat there again. At 12 she couldn't wait for our grandfather to work the afternoon shift so she could take the truck and our grandmother out to visit her sister, via the back roads, making sure she was home before his shift was over. She played mixed ball into her 50's and when her 60th birthday approached and she was given the choice of a party or white water rafting, rafting it was. Quickly, mom figured out that she could jump out of the raft and other rafts would pick her up. By the end of the day everyone knew who "Grandma Gail" was. This moniker was given to her by one of her two special grandsons. Josh (Lise) started calling her that as soon as he could talk and when Levi came into our lives, he decided "G" was his appropriate name for her. These two boys meant more to her than life itself. If you weren't calling her "Mom" as most of the staff did at Canada Post for nearly 30 years, or "Grandma Gail" then you missed out on the most amazing love and hugs anyone could give you. Mom had a capacity to love anyone unless you had hurt her. Good luck trying to get that back. We as her children, Karen Zachary (Bob) and Scott (Cindy) were very aware of the amazing friends and family who called her, went to yoga with her, lunch, dinner and a movie, we could not have asked for better. She talked of all of you often. Finally, it would be remiss of us if we didn't mention Max. Although they were divorced for numerous years and he has been deceased since 1996, there was still a part of her that still loved him. She looked after him until he died. That's the kind of woman she was. As per Gail's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Gail's life will take place this summer as she would have turned 80 and loved a good party.
