(November 11, 1935 – September 17, 2017) – It is with a deep and abiding sense of loss that the family announces the passing of Phyllis (aka Phyl) on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at the Sault Area Hospital at the age of 81. Phyllis was born in Thessalon, Ontario to the late Albert Duncan (1960) and Maud MacLeod (1994) formerly of Cockburn Island, Ontario. Her beloved sister was the late Dorothy Alice Austin (2009) (late John 2014). Phyllis married the late Patrick Ernest Delaney (2002) in Kingston, Ontario on March 29, 1980; and enjoyed her married life as wife to a Royal Canadian Air Force “career person” subsequently retiring back to Sault Ste. Marie and cottage life on beautiful Lake Superior shores. Step-children are Susan Gibson (David); Robert Delaney (Joanne), late Grant Delaney (Donna; Perlita), seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Phyllis had diversified interests in life: loved nature, music, travel, crafts of many kinds including making hand-made quilts for new born babies; and had accumulated many dear and true friends along her life’s journey. She was a willing volunteer in many capacities over many years until medical problems dictated otherwise. Phyllis’s motto was “Live Well, Love Much, Laugh Often”. Funeral Mass to be celebrated at Precious Blood Cathedral on Friday, September 22, 2017 at 10 am. Rev. Hamish Currie officiating. Memorial contributions to the charity of your choice would be appreciated or Phyllis's wish was that you do an act of kindness for someone. Arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St E, 705-759-2522).
I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one.
I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles
when life is done.
I'd like to leave an echo
whispering softly down the ways.
Of happy times and laughing times
and bright sunny days.
I'd like the tears of those who grieve,
to dry before the sun.
Of happy memories that I leave
When life on earth is done.
