Passed away at the Sault Area Hospital on Wednesday June 12, 2024 at the age of 79.
Son of the late Lawrence and late Althea DesChene (nee King). Loving husband of the late Rhea DesChene (nee Cleary). Proud father of Patrick (Domenica), Vernon "Chip" and Sean (Tracy). Cherished grandpa of Brady, Tanner, Jadyn, Sophie, Natalie (Courtland), Ronnie, Elijah, Danielle and Angelina. Devoted great grandpa of Mackenzie, Aubrey, Landon and Finnley. Survived by his twin sister Brenda Anich (late Frank) and brothers Larry DesChene (late Donna), Ned DesChene (Barb) and Randy DesChene (late Bev). Predeceased by his sisters Sharon Ritchie (late Wilbur), Diane Tos (late Stan) and Marsha DesChene. Bernie will be missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Bernie loved the outdoors, you could find him fishing, berry picking or out in the garden, with a cold one near by. The simplest things in life would give him great pleasure and happiness. He was very proud and honoured by his family and friends. We not only lost a father, we lost our best friend and our buddy "just saying".
Arrangements are entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton and Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E, 705-759-2522). As per Bernards wishes cremation has taken place.
