Alfonso DiRenzo passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2002 at the Plummer Memorial Hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born on June 16, 1926 in Casacanditella, Italy, Alfonso made Canada his home in 1950 and touched the hearts of many. Son of the late Nicola and Camilla, Alfonso is survived by his beloved wife, Carmela, loving children Nick and his wife Mary, Mary and her husband Mike and Emily and her husband Joe. Nonno will be greatly missed by his cherished grandchildren Mike, Jamie, Alex, Matthew and Caroline. He will also be missed by father-in-law Giuseppe (late wife Assunta), sister Blanche (late husband Tony), brothers Silvio (Assunta) and Rocco (Linda), brother-in-law Gabriel (Anna), sisters-in-law Emma (late husband Tony) and Ada (Doug) and all of their extended families. Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Sunday, May 5 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Monday, May 6 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Gregory's Parish at 11:00 a.m.
