The family of Ginette Dosko sadly announces her peaceful passing on Tuesday, October 11th, 2022 at the age of 89, surrounded by love. In 1933 Ginette was born in France and soon faced a difficult childhood while being raised in foster homes with her siblings. Later in 1953 she married her loyal husband George, with whom she shared 64 years of marriage with until his passing in 2018. Together they raised their five children; Gerard (JoAnne Stone), Jean Claude, Bernard, Olga Drinkwater (late Mark) and Monique. Ginette was the most amazing Grandma of her five "petite filles”; Angella Burmaster (Mike), Krista Kalinowski (Ken), Danielle Verduyn (Josh), Candice and Ashley Drinkwater. She was the very special Great Grandma of James, Liam and Audrey Burmaster, as well as Dominic and Zachary Kalinowski. Dear sister-in-law of Antoine Dosko. Cherished “ma Tante” of Tania (Dave), Lanetta (Greg) and the late Stephane (Steve), and their children. She will also be missed by a large extended family in France and was a loving bonus mom to Roger MacMillan (Carol), Dave Pook (Wendy), and Brent Running. She will also be missed by members of the Stone and Drinkwater families.

They say that home is not a place but rather it is who you are with. Ginette was home for us, something she never had growing up but gave to each of us. Wherever she was, either at her house in town or in her old farmhouse at camp, there was always enough room and food for everyone. She worked extremely hard into her mid 80’s, caring for her family and doing the daily care of her two multi-needs children. Once when asked why she still did it all, she said “They’re my children and I’m their Mom.” She did it all without complaint and rarely asked for help. She gathered us together with delicious meals (her French cooking always had garlic and onions), kept us warm with her many pairs of knitted slippers given at Christmas and always hated saying goodbye. She was caring and steady. She also loved a good perfume and red lipstick; the two things she always made sure to have on before any outing or special occasion. During these outings she’d always find a treat or two for her five granddaughters, and found such joy in just watching them be little. She was the kind of Grandma who was always happy to have you around; listening to you chat while she cooked, letting you make ice cream concoctions with every kind of topping, kept jars and put holes in the lid so that you could catch grasshoppers, who let you use her clean blankets to make big forts outside and had the best lap for naps. Ginette was a remarkable woman and we will all feel a bit lost without her. We each are so thankful that we can carry her love with us wherever we go, and welcome you to come and celebrate her where she often gathered us all, in her kitchen on Friday, October 14th, 2022 at 5:00 pm. We would like to thank her son Jean Claude and niece Tania, who devoted themselves daily to caring for Ginette over the last few years. We would also like to thank the doctors, nurses and paramedics who cared for Ginette over the years. Interment and a larger celebration of life will be held at a future date on St. Joseph Island, where Ginette loved to spend her summers with family and friends. Memorial donations to the Children’s Aid Society, Humane Society or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. East, 705-759-2522). Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the Dosko family.
