July 31, 1927 - April 26, 2022 -  It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Eleonore at the age of 94.

Devoted wife to the late Henry Eastham. Proud mother of Yvonne Kubis (Richard) and the late Ralph Eastham. Predeceased by her sister Ursula Kruppert. Dear aunt to Ursula Kruppert-Hayes and Gordon Kruppert. Beloved Oma to Aaron Eastham and the late Rhonda Eastham.

Eleonore (my mom) lived in Sault Ste. Marie for most of her life. Many will remember her from working at the local bakeshop at Safeway, where she would give cookies to every youngster who visited her at the counter.

Mom was a woman brimming with kindness and she touched the hearts of everyone she met with her beautiful smile and gentle nature. She had a great sense of humor and was always full of enthusiasm. She had an infectious laugh and one always had fun with her. She truly embraced life to the fullest.
She was an avid bowler for many years and she loved to dance especially at the polka fests in Frankenmuth. She loved to travel and took many trips with the Sunshine Club. In the summer, she took pleasure in her garden and the winter months were spent doing jigsaw puzzles.

She loved animals of all kinds. Her grand-dog knew she always kept cookies in her purse and she always had cookies in her mailbox. Dogs out for a walk would sit at the end of the driveway until she came out to give them a treat. Toward the end of her life, she loved sitting by the window watching the birds and squirrels at the feeders.

Mom was blessed with good health so even in her later years, we were able to do many things together. She loved planning excursions with me, and we went on many walks and picnics in the park. We gardened, and she was always ready to help with any project. She would throw on her overalls and became my right-hand man. She was not only my mother, but my best friend. I especially thank the paramedics and the team of nurses and doctors at the Sault Area Hospical ICU who took such good care of Mom in her last days.

As per Eleonore's request, a celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Humane Society would be greatly appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492, Wellington St. E., 705-759-2522).
