(March 23, 1946 - February 23, 2019) - Slipped away quietly at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice, a month before his 73rd birthday. Predeceased by his mother Mina Brazil and his sister Olive Ryan. Larry is survived by his older brother George Eddy (Glory) of Lake Stevens, Washington, and his younger brother Philip Brazil (Jocelyn) (niece Meghan) of Sault Ste. Marie, whose daily visits these last months were so special to him. He is also survived by his partner and special friend, Alma LeBreton. Larry will be greatly missed by his two cherished daughters, Carol Lucio (Carlo) and Lori Tucker, who he bragged about constantly to anyone who would listen. That is until he became “Gpa” or “Grumpy” to his four fabulous grandchildren - Joe and Jamie Lucio and Devin and Dakota Tucker – who he loved fiercely and was so incredibly proud of. Larry is also survived by his ex-wife and best friend, Myrna Eddy, to whom he relinquished the Christmas crokinole trophy to this year without a fight. Larry was an avid hunter, fisherman, trapper, and private pilot. He spent all his spare time outside and it didn’t matter the season as there was always a reason to head to the bush. Larry was a storyteller and loved sitting by a campfire or by the woodstove in his garage with a beer in hand. Everyone was welcome and no one was spared when he started telling dad jokes or playing practical jokes – and no one laughed louder or with more enthusiasm at his own antics than he did. Larry was a meat and potatoes man and he enjoyed cooking. He’d phone his daughters daily to excitedly tell them what deal he’d found that day at the grocery store and how he was preparing it that night. He couldn’t understand why anyone would have any other type of dog than a black lab, while having a pocket full of treats to share with any dog he saw. For the past several summers, Larry spent time at the trailer in Havilland at the home of Kevin Lynn (Nancy Solomon), who “adopted” Larry as his own father when he was a boy. Larry is comforted knowing that his big old black lab, Casey, will spend his final years on the shores of Lake Superior with Kevin. Larry will be laid to rest with his mother, Mina Brazil. A Come and Go Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, March 2 from 6:00-9:00 pm at The Atrium at the Water Tower Inn. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation to a local charity such as the Humane Society, St. Vincent’s Place or ARCH would be appreciated. The family would like to thank Bayshore nurses, Jessica and Eva, for all their care of Larry while at home, the nurses in 3B overflow for your exceptional care of him while in hospital, and the staff and volunteers at ARCH who showed such compassion. Thank you to Dr. Silvana Spadafora for pushing the envelope and trying all available options to fight dad’s disease which gave us more time with him. Also a special, heart-felt thank you to Dr. Karen Booth for her dedication, professionalism and genuine care for our dad. You made his last days as pain-free and comfortable as possible and always made dad feel like he was your number one patient. He trusted you and always listened when the “boss” talked.
