FERNANDEZ, Mavis Joan

Died peacefully, with her daughter Cecilia by her side at
the Great Northern Retirement Home on Saturday May 14, 2005; Mavis Fernandez at the
age of 79 years. She was the beloved wife of the late (Aloysius) George Fernandez
and the loving mother of Cecilia and the late Regina Fernandez. Mavis is survived
by her sister Alice deSouza (late George) and brother Eric Ferrao (Movita) who
reside in Malaysia and Singapore respectively. In Malaysia and Singapore, Mavis
will be remembered lovingly by her nieces and nephews: the late Finian (Jennifer),
John (Agnes), Marcia (Nelson), Valerian (Nellie), Veronica, Domingos (Anne),
Barnitus (Mary) and Brigid, Gerard, Edward and Mark. She will be fondly remembered
by the Fernandes family in Sault Ste. Marie and Toronto. Mavis was a respected and
loved pediatric nurse in Singapore before immigrating to Canada in the late 70's
with her family. She was dedicated to her children and to her faith in God. She
will be remembered as a gentle, generous person who always had good things to say.
Mavis will be sadly missed. Friends may call at St. Gerard Majella Church on
Tuesday May 17, 2005 from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. with
Reverend George Lapierre officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made
to St. Gerard Majella Church or to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the
