 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ernest, surrounded by the love of his family on Friday, February 22, 2019 at the age of 74. 

Beloved husband and best friend of Janice for 48 years. Cherished father of Mary De Oliveira (Denny), Joseph Gagnon (Laura), Anthony Gagnon (Rachelle) and Bridget Frost (Jeremy). Special pépère of Tiago, Rocco, Isabelle, Henry, Mélyse, Mattias, Mirielle, Leila and Charlotte.Predeceased by his parents Joe and Blanche Gagnon. Dear brother of the late George Gagnon (late Loretta), late Lucille Eno (late Ray), late Bertha King (late Merv), Annette Dubé (Guy) and Beatrice Roy (late Maurice).  Son-in-law of the late Isabelle and Anthony Rebellato.  Brother-in-law of the late Gene Rebellato (Leona), Jimmy Rebellato, AJ Rebellato (Susie), Bridget Madill (Herb), Annette Gregorini (Richard) and Dennis Rebellato (Karen). He will be remembered by his many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Ernie enjoyed his career as an electrician, working for Algoma Steel, Algoma Tubes and S&T. He was very talented in his trade and was often sought after for his expertise. Ernie was a gentle man who made everyone around him feel welcome. He was quiet and soft spoken but could brighten an entire room with his infectious laugh. A kind soul with a big heart who will be truly missed by many.  Ernie lived to see the smiles of his grandkids. He delighted in their visits and nothing gave him greater joy.

A private family visitation will take place, followed by a public Funeral Mass at St. Gregory’s Church on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. with Father Trevor Scarfone officiating. Memorial donations made to Tracy’s Dream would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road, 705-945-7758). The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Fraser for the care and compassion shown to Ernie and our family.
