It is with great sadness that we have lost the pillar of our family; a beloved husband, father, “Nono” and friend to many. With his loving family at his side, Arthur passed at the Sault Area Hospital on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at the young age of 94.

We are comforted knowing he will be reunited with the love of his life for 58 years, the (late) Mary (nee Petingalo). Wonderful father to Pamela (Dave) and Brian (Johanna). Loved and adored by his grandchildren Alexander, Kayla, Alexa, the late Olivia, Amanda, Joshua, Petra and Brennan. Predeceased by his parents Odo and Margaret as well as his siblings (late) Venus D'Orazio (late Fred) and late Alex (late Pat). Brother-in-law to Jim (late June), Joseph (late Margaret) and Albert (late Lynn) Petingalo. Predeceased by his brother and sister-in-laws Sam Panco (Eda), Fred Petingalo (Mary), John Petingalo (Pearl), Louis Petingalo (Theresa), Peter Petingalo (Georgina), Dominic Petingalo (Deanna), Anne Cerenzie (Frank), Emma Aubin (Ken), Betty Eckley (Russ), Helen Schryer (Bud), Lucy and Barb. Art will be missed by his best friend, Dorina Nanne, and special neighbours of many years, Vaike and Roger Kinghorn.

Our dad was recently recognized for his 55 years of outstanding commitment and support that he provided to the community and citizens of Sault Ste. Marie. Highlighted by his 18 years of service as Alderman of Ward 5. He actively served on numerous committees, boards and associations right up until the time of his death. He was a dedicated Algoma Steel supervisor for over 40 years in the transportation department. Dad also had an accomplished athletic career both in hockey and softball, which included being inducted into the Sault Ste. Marie Hockey Hall of Fame.

Most of all, what mattered most to our dad and Nono was his family. He was a devoted family man who held a special relationship and was cherished by each of his children and grandchildren. He was our best cheerleader with his unwavering support, encouragement and unconditional love. We will remember every story told, song sang and pep talk given with his utmost enthusiasm. Dad, Nono, you have given us a lifetime of memories for which we are forever grateful, we are honoured to be your family. Avanti!

We also want to thank the doctors and nursing staff at Sault Area Hospital on 3C/3B especially Dr. Dawson, Dr. Bowen, Nurses McKenna, Mackenzie, Luke and James, and home-care staff, Shannon, Holly, Keith and Lucas who all went above and beyond for our dad.
