It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lauretta Gurnoe on October 13th, at the age of 66 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She broke her earthly bonds with her family by her side in hospice. She was born on July 16, 1957, in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada, to Domenic and Immacolata (Tridico) Albidone.

Lauretta was a natural caregiver, not only in her personal life, but also in her professional role as a Developmental Service Worker, where she treated her clients just like family at Community Living Algoma. Lauretta had just begun to enjoy retired life. She was so happy spending her days with her husband taking their dogs for walks. She also loved having her daughter, son in law and granddaughter over, sharing laughs around the dinner table.

Lauretta will forever be missed by her adoring husband, Carl Gurnoe; her only child, Sarina Thomlinson (Steve); her only grandchild, Amber Thomlinson; and her furbabies, Gypsy and Koda. She also leaves behind her mother, Immacolata Albidone; four brothers, Frank (Debbie) Albidone, Ray (Brenda) Albidone, Italo (Marisa) Albidone, and John (Anne-Marie) Albidone. She will be missed by many other family and friends as well.

Lauretta is the cherished only daughter of the late Domenic Albidone..

A special thank you to the doctors and nurses at My Michigan Medical Center and to the staff and volunteers at the Ball Hospice House.

Visitation will begin on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at 1:00 PM, at the Sault Tribal Center and will continue until the Traditional Ceremony on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at 10:00 AM. The family asks you to come and send Lauretta on her final journey.

Final Resting Place will be at the Riverside Cemetery in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.

In lieu of flowers, Lauretta requested that donations be made either to the Ball Hospice House or to either of the animal shelters in the twin Soo’s.
