Tarja Helena Hakkarainen, born April 29, 1963, in HÄmeenlinna, Finland. Passed away peacefully into her eternal home in Heaven on September 27, 2024.

Missed deeply by her husband Harri of 41 years and her daughters: Saara (Ian) Kokkonen of Echo Bay, Ontario, Susanna (Jacob) Burger of Angus, Ontario, Laura (Drew) Raisanen of Echo Bay, Ontario, Liisa (Owen) Hendrickson of Brush Prairie, Washington, Miila (Lason) Homola of Woodland, Washington, Maija (Ross) Homola of Woodland, Washington.

Tarja leaves behind 29 grandchildren that were so precious to her. Each one had a special bond with their Mummu. She touched the hearts of many people with her warm smile and loving selfless nature. Tarja received living faith and strived diligently until the end. She was a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church.

Predeceased by her parents Juhani and Helena Jarvinen. Survived by her brother Juha Jarvinen (Lea) of Airdrie, Alberta.

Tarja is remembered by a multitude of friends from across Canada, the USA, and Finland.

A special thank you to the emergency doctors and staff of the Sault Area Hospital that showed the family much compassion on the night of Tarja’s passing.

A visitation for family and friends will be held at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Sault Ste. Marie (742 Third Line East) from 6pm to 8pm on Friday October 11, 2024. A funeral service will be held at the church on Saturday October 12, 2024, at 11am with a graveside service to follow at the Sylvan Valley Cemetery in Echo Bay.
