After a brief illness on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, Peter passed away peacefully.

He was 10 days into his 97th year. Predeceased in April 2000 by his wife Muriel (Empringham) whom he loved for 45 years. Loving father of Sandra Larmer (David) and Glenna Halicki Hayden (Jim). Proud grandfather of Rachel, Joel (Jess), and James Jr. Survived by brother George Halisky and sister Selia Mitansky, and predeceased by 7 other siblings.

Peter grew up in Smoky Lake, Alberta, and moved to Ontario to be with Muriel as a young man. He has lived in Toronto, Hamilton, Pickering, London, and moved to Sault Ste. Marie in 2020 where he spent his last few years. He was employed with the Unemployment Insurance Commission of Canada for 35 years, spending the majority of that time in management capacity. One of Peter’s favourite hobbies was spending time in his garden, as well as in the gardens of the people he loved. His enthusiasm and passion for life, learning and growth will be greatly missed by all who held him dear.

As per Peter's wishes, he will be laid to rest in a private family plot at Duffin Meadows Cemetery in Pickering at a later date.  If desired, donations can be made made payable by cheque or online to the F.J. Davey Home Foundation or to a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. -705-759-2522). Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the Halicki family.

We would like to thank the F.J. Davey Home Birch 2 for their attention and care of our father.

“In our end is our beginning; in our time, infinity.
In our doubt there is believing; in our life, eternity.
In our death, a resurrection; at the last, a victory.
Unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see.”
-In The Bulb There Is a Flower (Peter’s favourite hymn)
