HANEY, Shirley Ann (nee Bell)

With sadness, we announce that Shirley passed away peacefully at Freeport Hospital on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at the age of 89.

Beloved wife of the late Robert Haney for over 67 years. Loving mother of Lorraine, Chris and Shelley (Jodi Zoellner). Survived by her sister-in-law Norma Reed (Ken). Fondly remembered by in-laws, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Shirley was a woman of conviction; she had a strong, independent nature. She loved her family deeply, always looking forward to the next opportunity to host her family and delight them with her exquisite cooking and baking. She was a woman ahead of her time as she worked from home while successfully managing her family. Shirley will be forever remembered as a wonderful and caring wife, mother, aunt and friend.

Shirley's family would like to extend their gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at Freeport Hospital Palliative Care Unit for their gracious and compassionate care.

A private gathering to celebrate Shirley's life will be held at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener (519) 749-8467.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Grand River Hospital Foundation - Freeport Palliative Care or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated (cards available at the funeral home).
