It is with profound sadness that we announce Alex’s sudden passing at age of 66. Alex (Pam) Harris was born in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario. Predeceased by her father William Calvin Harris and her mother Beatrice Pauline Harris (Miller). She had six half siblings from her mother’s side and four half siblings from her father’s side. She is leaving behind at least more than 20 nieces/nephews, great nieces/great nephews and at least 20 cousins. She also will be missed by many friends. Now, she is joining a few friends that were very close to her.

Alex served in the Canadian Air Force as an air traffic controller. After leaving the Air Force she worked for the City of Ottawa. She has always been a kind, caring, and giving person. She even created a youth fitness program for teens in her home town of Rockland, Ontario. Her zest for life knows no bounds.

Alex was one of the most generous volunteers and contributors to the Rockland Foodbank. For many years she worked with various teams on many projects assisting the less fortunate families in our community in Clarence-Rockland. She could be counted on to lend a helping hand when a family was in distress. Each year, when they conducted the annual food drive "Guignolee", Alex headed up her team of walkers with trucks and trailers, going door to door for canvassing non perishable food for the Foodbank. In addition, at the Christmas childrens' gift distribution, Alex suited up and played Santa to over 200 children for a number of years.

She was a model member of our community, and she will not be forgotten.

A private friend celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Donations to the Rockland Foodbank http://www.banquealimentairerockland.ca/donationseng2.html in her name will be really appreciated especially that she enjoyed her time with the organization.
