HARTEN, Godfrey

(February 10th 1954 - December 21st 2017).  It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Godfrey on Thursday, December 21, 2017.  Godfrey was a devoted husband to Barbara and a cherished father of Pam Klooster (Jared), Alecia Campbell (Brad), Alaina (Marco Pierucci), Chad Menard (Sherri) and Shasta Flagel (Bryan). He was a proud and respected grandpa to Emma and Ryan Klooster; Julia, Olivia and Ben Campbell; Duncan Pierucci; Isabella, Grace and William Menard; and Sydney and Hannah Flagel. He was eagerly anticipating the arrival of his twelfth grandchild, baby Pierucci, due March 2018. Son of the late Keith and Carol Harten and son-in-law to William and Lillian McCallum. Brother to Sandra (late Mark), the late Anne, the late Valerie (Wayne), David (Wendie), and Cindy (Dave). Brother-in-law to Judy, Christine (Bruce), and Bob (Denise). Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Special cousin and friend to Dean Harten. Godfrey was hardworking, dedicated and loyal, and took pride in every job that he completed.  The only thing that he loved more than operating his backhoe and dump truck, was spending quality time with his family, for who he would do absolutely anything. It was very important to Godfrey to instill a strong sense of work ethic, responsibility and commitment to his children and grandchildren, and for this, we will be forever grateful. He had an honest and generous spirit that was admired by everyone that knew him. Godfrey will be deeply missed by many friends and acquaintances he met along his journey. Friends are invited to visit at the Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley (492 Wellington St. East 705-759-2522) on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 4 – 8 pm. Spring interment Richards Landing Cemetery.  Memorial contributions to ARCH or Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.  The family would like to thank the EMS first responders, Dr. Evans, and the emergency room staff at the Sault Area Hospital for their compassion, concern and their care.  We would also like to express our sincere appreciation to Godfrey’s friends, his business acquaintances, and Barb’s coworkers and staff at the F.J. Davey home for their kind words and prayers.
