HERTZOG, Lily (nee Di Angelo) May 8, 1922 - May 19, 2019 - Fighting to stay, but needing to go - Lily passed at Extendicare Van Daele at 97 years old, with daughter and friends at her side.
Daughter of the late Clorinda and Dominic Di Angelo. Beloved and adored wife of the late Oscar Hertzog and late infant daughter Cindy. Much loved mother and best friend of Kathy and late son Jimmy. Also predeceased by 3 cherished sisters and 2 brothers. Lovingly remembered by special niece Sandra and sister-in-law Erma Di Angelo (Nick). Very proud grandmother of Cindy Withers (Mike) and Jamie Hertzog. Special step-grandma of Krista Trudeau Peters (Pat) and Dwayne Trudeau (Trudy). Great grandmother of 4 and great great grandmother of 3. Lifelong and cherished friend of Marianne Disano, Terry Chapman and Lynn Tomie. Lily will also be remembered by extended family in Detroit, Winnipeg, Sudbury, Southern Ontario and Sault Ste. Marie. Lily's life was filled with her hospitality to others - as a Health Care Aide at our hospitals and when she and Oscar welcomed guests to their bed & breakfast. She was a long time member of St. Jerome's CWL and served at many pancake breakfasts and other fundraising events with her church and family. She was also happiest listening to her favourite country music, and kicking up her heels at every opportunity for a party and laughs.

Funeral service to be held from Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E, 705-759-2522) on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at 11 am. Rev. Hamish Currie officiating. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorial contributions (payable by cheque) to Extendicare Van Daele Resident Council would be appreciated by the family. A very heart felt thanks to all Van Daele Staff and caregivers who cared kindly and compassionately for Lily over these last 4.5 years and especially in these final weeks. A special thank you to Dr. Rose Gieni, Chantelle, Lorena and Devon for all you did. Thank you for the support given and thoughtfulness extended to Kathy and her entire support system. It is genuinely appreciated and will always be remembered.
